Winter – Inviern

Winter tourism began 150 years ago 17 kilometres away in St. Moritz. So it is no surprise that the Upper Engadin still offers a huge variety of sporting activities these days.

Cross-Country Skiing

Gliding silently through the pure white unspoilt Engadin landscape – one of the highlights of winter for many cross-country skiers. The cross-country ski trail from Maloja to S-chanf is legendary, and becomes the focus of attention every year during the annual Engadin Ski Marathon. If you’d like to glide even further, we can offer you over 220 kilometres of prepared trail. In the evening you can also choose from three illuminated cross-country ski trails in St. Moritz, Pontresina and Zernez.

From the Allegra Zuoz it only takes a few minutes to get to the Nordic Center Zuoz cross-country skiing centre, which is run by our dedicated partner Willy Sport.

Ski and Snowboard

From December until April the Upper Engadin offers you 350 kilometres of pure enjoyment on the slopes, and thanks to altitudes of 1800 – 3303 metres above sea level, the ski areas are absolutely guaranteed to have snow.

The Zuoz ski area, which is a ten-minute walk away from our hotel, is ideal for young families and has over 5 ski lifts.

Our Tip

Special Hotel + Ski Deal: If you’re staying two nights or more in our hotel you can get the ski pass for the Engadin St. Moritz ski area for just CHF 45,00 per day.

Winter Hiking

Stomping through the snowy mountain scenery, past frozen lakes, woods steeped in legend and magnificent views, that’s what we call winter hiking here in the Engadin.

The varied network of winter hiking trails covers a distance of up to 150 kilometres. For young families, Engadin St. Moritz has special hiking trails adapted to suit prams and buggies. Come and be enchanted by the landscape.

Tobogganing

Tobogganing means lots of fun for young and old alike. Luckily all you need to do it is snow, a hill and a toboggan – all of which we have in plenty.

Starting at the Chastlatsch ski lift, the ski area in Zuoz offers a 1.5 kilometre-long toboggan run. However, the most famous toboggan run is from Preda to Bergün. The 5 kilometre run spans 400 metres altitude and thanks to illumination it can also be enjoyed in the evening. Because the Albula Pass is closed in winter, the RhB railway is the best way to get there. Setting off at Samedan, the journey to Preda, where you can hire toboggans, takes 12 minutes.

Ice Climbing

Every winter, right in the gorge by Pontresina, impressive ice walls form, which can be climbed by courageous adventure-lovers.

Our partner Passion Ski offers ice climbing courses and supervised climbs. Our team will be glad to help to organise this and put you in touch.

You can find other activities on these websites Engadin St. Moritz and Graubünden Holidays.
